Web Conferences

Web Conferences

All our events, support sessions, and tutorials except where stated are delivered by web conference. You are expected to book on the web session you desire at least 24 hours prior. This is to allow planning and to ensure the event does take place as they are subject to booking. While we are happy for any candidate to book on any of our web conferences, sessions will only run if there is at least one candidate enrolled on the course being delivered.

All events are free. Please ignore any message that suggests payment will be required later. The booking software will collect some information such as your name, email, telephone number as part of the booking process.

The system will also send you a booking confirmation which you can use as evidence of participating in course activities and meeting guided learning hours.

Access details
You will be provided with access details for the web conference through the Communication and Assessment Centre when bookings have closed at least 6 hours before the event. Please contact us using our admin email (support@vocationallearning.co.uk) if you want to change your booking.

Zoom
Web conference
We use Zoom for our web conferences. The software enables you to be supported in real-time. It can also be used for observations.

Zoom appeals to both your visual and audio senses. You will be able to share screens and run presentations as well as have access to a whiteboard and chat system.

Zoom works on multiple devices including tablets, computers (PC’s and Apple Macs) and smartphones. You will be able to use your inbuilt microphone and speakers. The system has sound and visual diagnostic features.

If you have issues with your microphone please call in during your scheduled web conference using the numbers (0131 460 1196, 0203 051 2874, 0203 481 5237 and 0203 966 3809). You will need the web conference access code to successfully join.

You should be able to successfully join any of the web conferences directly from your web browser. Google Chrome is the best-optimised browser for Zoom. We have however successfully used Safari and Firefox with no issues.

Although you can access Zoom without downloading any software we recommend you to download the software (for your device) for a better experience. This will also allow you to test your video and sound settings.

You can also sign up for a free account that you can use to run your own web conferences. You can find out more about using Zoom from this official page.
